Alvin AreizagaJuly 12, 1956 ~ October 2, 2017 (age 61)
Alvin Areizaga, age 61, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017. He was born July 12, 1956 in New York to Brunilda Sierra and Simon Areizaga. From birth, this is where his love for New York began. He grew up and was raised in the Bronx; he had one older brother and three younger sisters. After high school, he served his country by joining the US Air Force; this is what brought him out to the west coast. During his 61 years of life, Alvin took on many roles for work and for fun. He acquired many talents in anything he did. It was amazing how much he knew a little about everything, a jack of all trades as they say. In his free time, he enjoyed watching and talking about his Yankees. And there wasn’t a time you didn’t see him dancing. He would say it’s in his blood because he was Puerto Rican and extremely proud of it. He was a golden glove boxer, he enjoyed playing a variety of sports, shooting pool but most of all he loved to make people laugh (even strangers) and they’d laugh until they cried. He was a beloved soul that had a smile which lite up a room. His day wasn’t made until he got a chance to make everyone laugh and have a smile on their face too. He was a father, a brother, a son and a husband.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; his daughter, Melanie; three sons, Alvin, Sergio and Charlie; one step son, Kim; three step daughters, Jennifer, Kelly and Kishia; one brother, Charles; and three sisters, Olga, Janet, and Sandra. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many many family members and friends that loved him dearly.
He was a genuinely funny man with the biggest loving heart. He was always cracking jokes, making everyone laugh. I only hope that you got a chance to meet him in order to know what I'm talking about. We lost him suddenly and entirely too soon. He will be extremely and dearly missed. But this is only bye for now, until we meet again…..
