(Mr. CC... How I always began any notes I left for him) at approximately 10:45pm on May 30, 2017, you decided it was time for you to be free to walk and run like the wind…. Charles was born in Farmersville, Texas to Raymond and Ozella Cooper on July 20, 1930. He came to El Nido with his mother and two younger brothers in 1938. He attended El Nido Grammar School at which time he would milk 13 cows by hand in an open corral, eat breakfast, and run to school. After school he would run home and repeat the same routine. Charles love of farming and everything John Deere began around age 9. While attending Merced High School he milked cows AM @ PM, ran track and played football. Shortly after graduating in 1948 he married his first wife Geanette and together they had 3 children. He owned his own dairy-farm during this time. Charles served on the El Nido School Board for 17 years, and was a volunteer fireman for El Nido Fire Department. After Charles sold his Dairy farm he became Ranch and Dairy Foreman at Soledad Prison for 6 years. Moving on to Terra Bella Vineyards for a number of years, and then returning to El Nido as Ranch Foreman for Uncle “Henry”. In 1982 he met his wife Janice (which he lovingly introduced to everyone as the War Department). At this time he went to work as Farm Foreman for De Jager
Farms for many wonderful years. After retirement he would always refer to his De Jager years as the happiest and most rewarding time in his life. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, father and baby brother Jerry who was waiting for him on May 30th, so they could go for long rides again! Charles leaves behind his wife of 35 years and Best Friend, Janice (Pimentel) Cooper, his children: Cathy Cooper of Arnold, CA, Larry Cooper of Merced, CA, Peggy Cooper of Hornbrook, CA, Kelly Roseman (Paul) of Merced, CA, Eric Doss (Angela) of Merced, CA, 13 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren, and siblings, Robert (Shirley) Cooper of Merced, CA, JoAnn (George) Chester of Merced, CA, Eddie (Nancy) Silva of El Nido, CA, Richard (Jane) Cooper of Chilliocothe, MO.
