Gene RogersFebruary 10, 1943 ~ June 26, 2017 (age 74)
Gene(Pappa) Rogers lost his battle with cancer and went to be with his Lord on June 26th.He went peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family at his home in Livingston, CA.
Gene was born in Tyronza, AK. On February 10th, 1943 to Thomas and Jennie (May) Rogers. He grew up in Dyess, AK. Where he and his family lived and worked in the cotton fields on Dyess Colony. Gene served in the United States Army from 1966- 1968. He was an E5 Specialist, and served at the DMZ in Korea during the Korean conflict.
In 1984 Gene was introduced to his future wife Linda (Pierce) Tacheira by his sister-in-law and his brother. Linda and Tom Rogers. Gene and Linda were married on May 26, 1985. They have been married for 32 years. They shared many wonderful memories together. Gene enjoyed welding and fabricating. He worked at various companies through the years. In 1985 he opened his own welding and fabrication shop, American Manufacturing, in Turlock, CA. While there he designed, built and patented his cutting torch.
In 1989 he moved to Livingston, CA. On the Pierce Ranch where he worked as a grape farmer, welder, fabricator and mechanic until he retired in 2005.
Family, friends and neighbors would always call upon him when things needed to be built, fixed or repaired. Their motto was, “Ask Gene he can do anything”.
Gene and Linda enjoyed retirement by traveling. They loved to see the sights, go camping, and visiting with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gene was loved and respected by so many. Especially by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom he loved and adored. Gene has a great sense of humor and he loved to tease everyone.
Gene leaves behind his loving wife Linda Rogers, two sons, Daniel (Amy) Rogers, and Stephan Joshua (Teresa) Rogers. Two stepdaughters, Regina (Sean) Gross, and Katherine Tacheira. Brother , Thomas (Linda) Rogers, and sister, Ella Belle (David) Killen, fifteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Jennie Rogers, his brothers, Phillip Rogers, Herbert Cavitt, Herman Owens, and his sisters, Eileen (Cavitt) Holt, and Thadies (Cavitt) Robertson. Also a granddaughter, Keyonna Tacheira.
There will be a memorial service held at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Chapel in Atwater on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 am. with military honors.
