Raymond A. Koehn, a longtime resident of Winton, CA passed away peacefully on April 23rd. He was born on December 31, 1931 in Ulysses, Kansas to Samuel and Hilda Koehn. In 1946, Raymond moved to Winton with his family from Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the lead fletcher-class destroyer ship, the USS Fletcher during the Korean War.
Raymond was a carpenter in Eureka; a bus driver, custodian and maintenance technician for the Winton School District for over 30 years. Raymond loved camping, fishing for catfish and working with wood. He would build doll houses, bird houses, whirligigs, benches, etc. He loved his 1964 Chevy pickup truck. But his true passion was the love his had for his family. Raymond will truly be missed.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Bonneta “Bonnie” (Taylor) Koehn; Sons: Calden and wife, Lisa Koehn of Clovis; Aaron and wife, Dianna Koehn of Atwater; Daughter, Robin and husband, Brian Dibble of Winton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; Sisters: Ruth Toews, Pearl Koehn, Della and husband, Dan Giesbrecht and Bertha and husband, Weldon Giesbrecht; Brother, Frank and wife, Lillian Koehn. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jim Koehn; sisters, Lorene and Helen; granddaughter, Shanell Koehn and brother-in-law, Johnnie Toews.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, 3050 Winton Way in Atwater. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at Church of God in Christ, Mennonite Church, 7099 California Street in Winton. The burial will follow at Winton District Cemetery in Winton. Arrangements are under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater.
