Sue passed away peacefully at home in Atwater with her husband, John of 65 years by her side. Sue was born at home on the family farm in Jackson County, Tennessee to Belle and Carl Cummins. The home and farm property is now one of Tennessee’s State Parks-Cummins Falls State Park.

Sue met and married the love of her life, John Kelly in Nashville, Tennessee on November 15, 1952. Her life dramatically changed because her new husband was in the military. The Tech Sargent in the Air Force was in high demand and she spent the next 23 years traveling the world, while raising their 3 children. Sue was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

She was known for being a notoriously great cook and generous hostess. Most famous for her apple pies, lemon cookies and everyone’s favorite dishes were a hit at church potlucks. She cooked for the Atwater Elementary School District for 20 Years.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Belle Cummins. Her brothers Carl Cummins of Battle Creek, MI and Bill Cummins of Cookeville TN. Survived by her husband, John Kelly. Daughters Pam Cobble and Patti Bueno (Dan). Her son, Michael Kelly (Rose). Grandchildren: Kelly Hubbs, Angela Eltareb, Chris Kelly, Brandon Kelly and Bryson Bueno. Great grandchildren: Trent, Briana, Cody, Aiden, Ariana, Noah, Zachary and Jasmin.

Burial will take place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Rd. Santa Nella, CA on Friday, November 3rd at 10:30 am. Procession will begin at the Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater, 3050 N Winton Way, Atwater Ca. at 8:45 am.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 11 am at Merced Church of Christ, 2050 Yosemite Pkwy, Merced Ca.
