Joyce Lorene Albrigo

May 15, 1931 ~ December 27, 2018 (age 87)

In Loving Memory of

Joyce Lorene Albrigo

May 15, 1931-Dec. 27, 2018

Joyce Lorene Albrigo (maiden name Rioth) passed away peacefully in her home early morning on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018.  She was 87 years old.

Joyce was born on May 15, 1931 to her parents. Homer and Florence Rioth, and was an only child.  She attended Fresno State University for 2 years until she met her future husband, Joseph (Joe) Albrigo.  They were married in  1952.  The Albrigos lived in Merced where Joe worked for Del Monte Corp. on what was Fancher Ranch.  Joyce had her 4 children and when they became teenagers, she went to work as an assistant to the librarian for Merced Library.  She retired after 15 years there in 1988.  She made many  good friends who all adored her through her work at the library.

Joyce loved to read in her spare time. She also enjoyed playing the piano and would play in the evenings for family and friends. She played all the way through her 87th year.  She was passionate about her many cats and they were certainly lucky to be in her care.  Joyce was dedicated to staying in close contact with her many friends and family via phone and letters. No hi tech for her!  As she told her best friend, "I just want to hear their voices."

Joyce was preceded in passing by her husband Joseph.  She is survived by her children, Marla Albrigo of Portland, Or,  Ted Albrigo of Danville, Karen Belli of Morgan Hill, and Kevin Albrigo of Merced, her daughter-in-law Mary Phelps, son-in-law Joseph Belli, and her grandchildren twins Joseph and Ryan Belli, Ethan Albrigo, and Hannah Albrigo.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her family and many great friends.  She not only joins her husband in heaven but her 8 sister and brother-in-laws who she was so very close to.  Joyce's wishes were to not have a service.  The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Hines Hospice for their guidance, support, and compassion during Joyce's last weeks.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hines Hospice at 410 West Main St., Suite A, Merced, CA, 95340.
