Mary Saucedo 1935 - 2018, age 83, passed away peacefully August 13, 2018. She was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. She moved to Merced with her mother, father and brother Arturo to follow her brother, Ruben, who had moved to Merced under the Bracero program a few years earlier. Before long she met the love of her life, Nicholas Saucedo who preceded her in death in 2014. They eloped in 1961 and shortly thereafter were married in the Catholic Church and went on to have three children, Nicholas, who preceded her in death in 1986, Patricia, and Daniel.
Our mother was a wife and homemaker when her children were younger and kept an immaculate household and she will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills. She devoted herself selflessly to her children and husband Nicholas ensuring they were will taken care of.
Our mother touched many lives during her life and worked at Laperla grocery store for many years making many friendships and helping those with advice or financially when they could not pay for items they wanted to purchase. Our mother had the ability to engage in meaningful and compassionate conversations and many clientele remembered her long after they had grown up and visited her often.
Mary is survived by her children Patricia Ruby and Daniel Saucedo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephen Ruby, Cassandra Ruby, Belen Castillo, Nicholas Saucedo, Richard Saucedo, Vince Saucedo, Frankie Saucedo who preceded her in death and Anastasia Saucedo. She is also survived by her great grandchildren.
We would like to especially thank Bristol Hospice for the compassionate and lovely care of our mother during the the last few months of her life and as well as Philip from Ivers and Alcorn.
