Mary Munoz Villa was born on October 23, 1933 in Shafter, Texas. She was one of seven children born to Alejandro Munoz and Angela Villanueva-Munoz Roman. Her siblings include: Louis Munoz, Luz Subia, Jess Munoz, Joe Munoz, Angela Gonzales, and Trudy Huff. In 1953, Mary and her husband moved to California, where they established a home and became long-time residents of Atwater, California.
Mary was an industrious and faithful employee of Foster Farms in Livingston, for 38 years. Serving many years as a supervisor, those whom she supervised, simply called her, “Mom”. She was sought out often, because of her strong work ethic; her wisdom and dedication to the company. Mary, was respected by all.
Among the things Mary enjoyed, were trips with her husband to Reno where she loved putting coins in the slot machines or catching a floor show. Mary also loved to dance with her husband Tony.
To those who knew her best, she will always be remembered as a generous woman, and a loyal friend who never gave up on anyone. She delighted in caring for others and often visited those who were in the hospital. Above all, Mary was devoted to her family. She was the wife of Antonio Cruz Villa for 68 years, and a beloved mother to; Antonio Villa Jr. of Atwater; Margie (Villa) Matus of Atwater; and Debra (Villa) Simons of Le Grand. She was grandmother to four grandchildren; Regina Ramos of Le Grand, Rachelle Hawkins of Le Grand, Megan Ables of Merced, and Amanda Matus of Le Grand. Mary also had four great- grandchildren; Steven Hawkins Jr., Gabriel Hawkins, Natalie Hawkins, and Kenneth Ables.
Mary passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at Ivers & Alcorn in Atwater at 6:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 21st at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Atwater at 10:00am.
