Ouida Frencho Petty Nance

June 19, 1924 ~ January 31, 2018 (age 93)


Ouida Frencho Nance, was born on June 19, 1924, to the late Huberto and Arjuna Petty in Dallas, Texas. She answered the call of her Heavenly Father on January 31, 2018 in Merced, California at the age of 93. Ouida attended George Williams College where she received her BA & BS. She continued her education at The University of Louisville in Louisville, KY where she received her Masters Degree. Ouida married Allen A. Nance Jr. in April 13, 1957.

Ouida was received many accolades during her life, she was a member of the Delta of Illinois as the Most Distinguish Alumni Phi Theta Kappa, National Honor Fraternity, George Williams College for Most Outstanding and Dedicated service, Central YMCA Community Coordinator for Outstanding and Dedicated Service. She was involved in many organizations, Young Democrats of Illinois, St. Mel Catholic Church Ladies Guild, National Association of Social workers, Omega PSI Sorority, Phi Theta Alumni Association. Ouida’s professional career, she held many professional titles during her career, she was a Professor and Student Counselor at UICC, Instructor and Academic Advisor, Community problem Adjuster Advisor, and as a Registered Nurse.

Ouida is survived by her sons, Ret. MSgt. John T. Petty Sr. (Betty), Com. Rodger J. Earskines Sr., brother-in-law, Leonard E. Sr. (Mae) Nance, Special brother, Arthur L. Hooks, sister-in-law, Margaret Gordon, Dorothy Anderson, Helen (Joe) Stokes and, Jewel. (Howard), Stone, special sisters, Willie M. Bell and Gladys H. Dunn. grandsons, Ret. Captain John T.  Petty Jr. (Sheila), granddaughters, Quida F. Petty, Arjuna A. Earskines, Ware, Michele (Cannon) Earskins, nieces, Berdie (Freeman) Curry & Myrtle J. Bell, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Best Friends, Freddie Reeves, Clarcia (Artee) Philyaw, Velma J. (Willis) Booker, Elizabeth (Earnest) Jackson and Mae K. Nance.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen A. Nance Jr. and grandson, Rev. Rodger J. Earskines Jr.
