Abraham L. Ochoa

With great sadness that the family of Abraham L. Ochoa announced his passing on September 1, 2023, at the age of 85.  He was born on August 29, 1938, in Merced California.

Abraham L. Ochoa was born to Pedro and Maria (Yepis) Ochoa.

Abe attended local schools and graduated from Merced High School in 1957.  He worked 30 years as a Letter Carrier for the United States Post office before retiring on August 29, 1992.  He also worked for Merced Union High School driving a school bus.  He was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle of Merced since the early 1960’s.  He obtained his ministerial license and started Truth Tabernacle church in Merced, CA. 

He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his family especially with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  But firstly, he enjoyed serving the Lord and the things of God, the people of God and studying the word of God.  Vacations for him were visiting new churches and asking to preach hoping to start a revival, finding the latest roller coasters, and looking for the best pancake house in the town.  He loved doing projects around the house, we always thought he would purposely break things so he can fix them again thus using the excuse to go and buy more tools.  He had many acquaintances and friends but once you became a friend of his you were a friend for life. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Maria Ochoa, brothers Joel, Elias and Pete, sisters Naomi and Gloria Ochoa Salazar.

He is survived by his loving devoted wife Gloria Ann Ochoa, sons Greg, Bruce and Gary Ochoa of Merced CA, and Tom (Linda) Ochoa of Santa Maria, CA and grandchildren Cory (Lexi) of Turlock CA, Nicole, Samantha, Jason, Kayla and Zachary Ochoa of Merced, CA.  Great grandchildren Dean and Alexander Ochoa of Turlock CA.

Please join us for a Celebration of Abe’s life on Tuesday September 19, 2023.  It will be held at Apostolic Tabernacle Church, 2745 E State Hwy 140, Merced CA. 95341 at 11:00am.   Viewing will be from 9:00am to 10:45am the same day at the Apostolic Tabernacle Church.

Interment to follow service at Merced Cemetery District, Merced CA.
