Amy A Barber

November 14, 1960 ~ November 29, 2020 (age 60)


Amy Fleischer Barber, a cashier at Vons in Oakhurst, died Sunday, November 29th, 2020, at her home in Mariposa after a battle with cancer. She had just celebrated her 60th birthday.


Amy is survived by: her husband, Bob Barber; her children Michael Marinello and Britney Ellis; her step children Dyani Chastain, Sonya Barber, and Tara Belisle; her grandchildren Jaiylen, Samantha, Cali, Brooks, Dalton, Maverick, Mackenzie, Matthew, Nikki, Kendra, Aiden, Kinsey, Sava, Forrest, Savannah, Taylor, and Scarlett; her mother Vreni Fleischer; and her siblings: Ann, Mark, Michael, Terence, Patrick, Christopher, Julie and Elizabeth Fleischer, and Deborah Hall and Joann Jalgunas.


She was born in San Francisco on November 14th, 1960 to Louis Walter and Margaret Fleischer.

She spent 3 years of her childhood in Atlanta, Ga. (when her father worked there) and the rest of her formative years in Hillsborough, Ca., first attending South Hillsborough School and then Crocker Middle School. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Belmont, Ca., in 1979 and went to the College of San Mateo where she earned an Associate of Arts degree.


After finishing school she worked at Longs Drug Store, as a cashier and then she later carried on her career as a cashier at Safeway (both in San Mateo, Ca.). After many years of living in the county of San Mateo, Amy moved to Mariposa, Ca, where she continued working as a cashier for Vons in Oakhurst. Amy enjoyed animals as much as she did people. She had three horses, four dogs, and a number of cats which she adored. Amy enjoyed horseback riding and had a deep appreciation for sunsets. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Christian woman hosting meetings at her home and participating in meetings in her community.


Because of the COVID crisis a funeral service will be held on December 11th, 2020, but limited to her immediate family. She will be interred in Oakhill Cemetery, Oakhurst, Ca.
