Cheryl Ann Bidwell

12/22/1945 ~ 12/16/2021

Cheryl Ann passed away peacefully at her daughter Lynda’s home surrounded by her family on December 16, 2021.  She was born to the late Albert Thomas Smith and the late Doris Naomi Cartwright on December 22, 1945 in Yuba City, California.

Cheryl attended Woodside High School in Redwood City, California, where she met her first love Russell Gary Whiting.  Together they had three children, Gary Russell, Debra Lynn and Lynda Marie.  They parted ways after 18 years of marriage and remained the best of friends until Russ’ passing in 2003.

On a night out with her kids for the Labor Day telethon in Reno, she connected with a man that would soon become her husband, Michael Dennis Bidwell.  Together they had two children, Marisa Bethany and Robert Michael.  They were together until his passing in 2016.

Cheryl was an amazing Mom and Grandma and when she hugged you ~ you could feel her warmth envelop you.  She was the most caring, generous and selfless woman.  She loved cooking and baking and reading books about cooking and baking.  Her passion was gardening, a trait she inherited from her mother.  She would spend hours tending to her plants to ensure they were growing to their full potential.  Wheat she loved most was her family and should would do anything for her loved ones.

Cheryl is preceeded in death by her husband Michael Dennis Bidwell, daughter Debra Lynn Abarca, son Robert Michael Bidwell, grandsons Andrew and Trevor, both of her parents, brother Bert D. Schmorde, and nephew Michael Mendonca.

She is survived by her son Gary (Jonathan) of Reno, NV, daughter Lynda (Kurtis) of Merced, CA, daughter Marisa (Tim) of Sacramento, CA, grandchildren Joseph, Jessica (Felipe), Andrea, Michael (Maddie), Angela (Jesus), Alyssa (Johnny), Jason (Gabby), Jeremy (Seanna), Scott, Angel, Naomi and Jasmine, 25 great-granchildren with one more on the way, sister Cynthia (Gib) Mendonca of Arizona, and her beloved cat Precious.
