Carolyn Weimer, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at her home in Atwater, California. She was born August 5, 1941 to Edward and Della Silveira and was the sister of Edward Silveira and JoAnn Clarot. Carolyn earned recognition for perfect attendance at school in both 1957 and 1958 and graduated from Livingston High School in 1960. She frequently participated in fashion shows with the Catholic Daughters of America and even appeared in the Merced Sun-Star preparing for one of those shows.
In 1971, Carolyn married Walter R. Weimer and they spent the next 47 years together in Atwater. She enjoyed traveling with her friends to Sweet Potato conventions and in 1977 she was a founding member of the Merced Chapter of California Women for Agriculture. In 2017 she was honored by the Merced County Board of Supervisors, California Assembly and California Senate for her work on the 40th anniversary of the Merced Chapter.
Carolyn and Walt were part of the Nisei bowling league and Carolyn worked at the Yamato Colony store which was right next to the last stoplight on Highway 99. She was an animal lover and always had several cats and dogs around the house and everyone will always remember Missy, Cleo, and Tuffy. Carolyn enjoyed camping in the Big Sandy area in the mountains and spending time with family and friends on her annual trip in the travel trailer to Pismo Beach. Everyone will always remember the Christmas Eve gatherings where all of the family would fill her living room and wait for Santa to arrive with his bag of toys. This often resulted in electronic toys racing through all the leftover wrapping paper or kids hiding behind the furniture as newly opened Nerf toys blasted foam darts across the room. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and was an avid Bunco player. One of the things she enjoyed the most was spending time with her granddaughters Bailey and Sydney and she always looked forward to their sporting events, band reviews, and ag projects.
Carolyn is survived by her brother Eddie Silveira and his wife Nita; sister JoAnn Clarot and her husband Jim; sister-in-law Kristin Weimer; sons Walter R. Weimer and his wife Katherine and Scott A. Weimer; granddaughters Bailey and Sydney Weimer; nieces and nephews Robert Silveira, Roxanne Grijalba, Judy Silveira, Kim Steelman, Kevin Clarot, Danny Clarot, MaryAnn Jensen and JoAnna Sambor.
