Celia V. Maltas

Celia V. Maltas passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2023 at the age of 91. Celia was born in Greece on January 28, 1932 and came to San Francisco in the early 1950's to study chemistry. While there, she met, fell in love with and married Dr. Alexander V. Maltas, an Optometrist, on June 10, 1956 and enjoyed 57 years of marital happiness. When newlyweds, the couple ventured to Atwater, CA. where Alexander established a very successful Optometry practice. Celia managed the office practice and worked as an optometric assistant. They worked together for 36 years until retirement in 1993 and traveled the world extensively thereafter.

Celia and Alexander enjoyed traveling the world together as well as spending time with family and friends. Celia was a long-time, faithful and active member of her church, and was openly thankful for the many blessings that God had bestowed on her life. She was loved by many. Celia was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander. She leaves two sons, Michael and Robert.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, 9/26 from 4:30- 6 P.M. immediately followed by a memorial prayer service at St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church in Atwater, and the funeral will be on Wednesday, 9/27 at 10 A.M. at the church with the burial to follow at Winton District Cemetery.
