Clara (Claire Aleen) Ashworth passed away in Fresno on January 12, 2021, at the age of 97. She was born in Mariposa to Dick and Florence Wass. Clara was raised in Jerseydale and Usona in Mariposa County. She married John Ashworth of Merced and in 1944 they settled in O’Neals, Madera County. Clara was an employee of Ponderosa Telephone for 44 years.
She is preceded in death by John and 13 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Carole Dulitz and her husband Dave of Springville, son Jake Ashworth and his wife Linda of Coarsegold, along with Linda’s daughter Holly Mason and her husband Mike, and Linda’s grandchildren Shelby and Mason Amberg.
She is also survived by six siblings, Bill Wass of Mariposa, Gladys Simmons and her husband Homer of Sacramento, Jack Wass of Mariposa, Kenny Wass and his wife Rena of Mariposa, Mary Williams and her husband Kenny of Mariposa and Rodney Wass and his wife Shirley of Mariposa.
The family would like to thank Shaemar Residential Care for the loving care given to Clara for the past 3 and a half years, most recently being Wilma, Tapz, Marissa and Patricia.
Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home of Merced is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Merced. Due to Covid restriction no services are planned.
