Obituary

Donald Lee Drake fondly called Don, Duck or Gorman D by those who love him passed away December 21, 2021 at the age of 88. 

 

Duck was born February 6, 1933 to William Raymond  and Cannie May Drake. He grew up in Winton California.  He served in the United States Army and held a  variety of jobs throughout his lifetime including roofing, security guard for Kellers, 10 years with MID and tree pruning.  He Married Joyce Elaine Drake “Peggy” on March 1, 1956,  they welcome seven children. Some months before his passing it was discovered he had a daughter he wasn’t aware of, he had the pleasure of meeting her before his passing making it a total of eight children for him.  Duck was an avid fisherman and enjoyed casinos. He was a great dancer and according to him  got all the ladies with his dancin skills back in the day.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Jack, Doug, May, Marguerite, and Willie.  His wife Peggy and his children Randy, Gary and Donna and grandson Jimmy Don Drake Jr.. He is survived by his children Valorie Thomas (Allen) of Dover, Delaware Debbie Drake Givens of Winton California Jimmy Drake (Marla), Middletown, CA. Stan Drake of Norco California , Tamara Drake (Rick ) of Fayetteville Arkansas.  His brother Bill Drake of Redding California.  25 grand children, 53 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Angel. 

 Family will hold a celebration of life for Duck on February 5, 2022 a day before what would have been his 89th birthday. All are welcomed. Please contact Debbie, Jimmy or Stan closer to the date for details. Duck will be greatly missed by All that knew and loved him.
