We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Atwater Location
Elizabeth Evelyn Curtis left this world peacefully on July 3, 2022, after making sure we all surrounded her with love and laughter for just a little while longer.
She loved visits from family and friends. Bess, as the world knew her, was born at home, to Frances (Sanchez) and Simeon Capala Supat on July 23, 1931 in Livingston Ca.
She was the second born of 9 siblings. Bess grew up in Livingston and would later graduate from Livingston High School. This is where she would meet her first husband, her older brother's best friend Henry Mesa. With whom she would have her four children.
A few of the jobs she took pride in were working for the original family owned Foster Farms as quality control, Castle Air Force Base Floral and the museum.
Bess enjoyed all the years of entertaining family and friends throughout her lifetime.
Bess truly enjoyed all the years with her grandchildren's epic pool parties, birthday parties, holidays and sleepovers. She loved the time spent with her sisters and truly missed them when they were gone.
She loved the beach, crocheting, gardening and going to garden nurseries for plants to fill her yards, patios and homes with. Her children remember how she loved to sew, sewing clothes for herself and them.
“Always sew your own original dress, that way nobody will be wearing the same as you” Bess loved her family, helping raise grandchildren without batting an eye.
She also loved keeping track and counting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
16 great-great-grandchildren to be exact.
Bess is proceed in death by her mother and father, Frances and Simeon Supat, her husband's Henry Mesa and John Curtis, brothers Ernie and Bobby Supat, sisters Elain Kaneshiro, Elsie Numata and Franny Rubio, her son Henry Rick Mesa Jr., Grandson Gabrial Mesa and two great-great granddaughters Harmony Re’ Carrasco and Bentlie Struble
Bess is survived by daughters Diane Mesa Salinas (Richard) and Denise Mesa Carrasco (Joe), her son Daniel Mesa, her brothers Richard “Dicky” Supat (Deloris) and Ronald “Ronnie” Supat (Christine), her sister Ella Mae Supat and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grands and great-great grands!
The space left can never be filled, Elizabeth, Bess, Bessie, Mom, Auntie, Grandma, we love you!
Interment will be Friday July 29, 2022, Merced Calvary Cemetery at 10 am. Celebration of her life will be at a later date to be announced.
