Ervin Jay Decker, 85 years old, passed into the presence of Jesus at his home in Atwater. Ervin was born in Owego, New York to the late Romeo and Florence Decker. He is survived by his sons Terry, James, Kevin and Justin, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
From 1955-1975, He spent his time in the United States Air Force. Going all over the world till his retirement as a Tech Sergeant at Castle Air Force Base. After the Air Force he went on to be an electrition at J.R. Woods and a few other companies until his retirement. After retirement he did volunteer work with the salvation army ringing the bell and collecting donations every holiday season. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He was a full-time single parent going to school functions or taking his son Kevin to Special Olympics all over California, and even to Ireland. His sons Justin and Kevin were avid bowlers who are very talented, he was a very proud dad. He was a devoted father that loved his family, he will be truly missed. Ervin was kind, generous, and fun-loving. He has joined his son Allen and his beloved wife Hazel in Heaven.
If you would like to attend, his viewing will be at Ivers and Alcorn in Merced on 9/12/2023 from 4-8pm. He will be buried next to his wife Hazel in Winton Cemetery on 9/14/2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donating to a charity of your choice.
