Eleanor Mae Wheatcroft Moreno was born on February 26, 1934 in Phoenix Pennsylvania to Harry Wheatcroft and Celia Lantz Wheatcroft Neal. Eleanor passed away at 89 years on August 4, 2023 from terminal cancer at her home in Merced California with family by her side.
Eleanor graduated from Dayton Highschool in 1952 in Pennsylvania and was valedictorian (one of five highest ranking students), was in the orchestra playing the violin, she liked traveling by plane, she was on the newspaper and yearbook staff, and enjoyed journalism. Her only dislike was washing dishes.
Eleanor went to college in Bowling Green Kentucky studying to be a flight attendant, but later settled on a career in bookkeeping in the early 1960’s. She worked at Merced Sun Star for several years where she met the love of her life Rudolph Moreno. Eleanor then worked for G&G Construction until her retirement. Eleanor and Rudy loved to travel in their RV and take cruises. And during their traveling years they also enjoyed playing golf together.
As everyone can testify who has known Eleanor, she was the kindest and most thoughtful person in the world who had a heart of gold. She would brighten up a room just by being there with her never-ending smiles. She was there to help anyone with whatever was needed. Eleanor believed in God and was very faithful throughout her life. Eleanor loved to save mementos and has pictures of family going as far back as the 1800’s. We cannot forget El Gato and Butterscotch who were her beloved cats.
Eleanor is survived by her brother John Wheatcroft, her sons Tracy Cutshall and Steve Cutshall. Her daughters Kathy Anderson, Gail Brasseal, Stella Moreno, Cecile Gonzales, and her granddaughters Callie Styles, great grandsons Trey and Reed, Lacey Stanford, and grandson Richard Cutshall and great grandson Alec.
Eleanor will leave a large hole in people's lives and will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 10am at Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home on 901 W Main St, Merced CA, as well as visitation on Tuesday evening, August 15th from 4pm-8pm.
