It is with profound sadness that the family of Fred Warchol announce his passing on January 26th at the age of 78 years. Fred will forever be remembered by his wife of 52 years Phan (Lee) Warchol, and his son Phui (Jason) Warchol (Melissa Warchol) and grandson Shane Warchol. Fred will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Tekla (Nick), Mary (Chris) and his brothers Joe (Cheryl) and Randy along with a numerous amount of Fred’s dear friends in the Atwater community. Fred was preceded in death by his youngest brother Patrick by 2 weeks.
Fred Warchol was an Atwater resident since 1978. Fred served his country in Vietnam and moved up to Master Sergeant in the Air Force and ended his career as a Radiologist in 1986 at Castle Air Force Base. He served on the Atwater city council as a traffic commissioner and went on to become a planning commissioner.
Fred’s controversial letters to the Merced Sun Star will be missed dearly.
A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held on February 10th from 9am -12pm at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater.
