Frances Alice Whitney

 Born May 4, 1930 –Released Aug 5, 2020.

On the morning of Aug 5, 2020, Frances Alice Whitney, at the age of 90, was released from her earthly body, and all vows, obligations, and worries. She passed away peacefully in her home, with family.

Frances was born on May 4, 1930, to Peter and Esther Vallero, their only child, and grew up in the copper mining town of Morenci, AZ. After High School, Frances entered the Nursing vocation, and soon after, married a strapping young Air Force fighter pilot, Lt. Norman Whitney. They had four boys together, and eventually established a home in Atwater, CA. Maj. Norman Whitney passed away, due to illness, on Christmas Day, 1965. Frances remained in that home, until her passing, and never remarried. She was preceded in death by her Father, Pete, Mother, Esther, and Husband Norm. She is survived by her sons, Steven, David, Paul, and William – their wives Sandra, Lisa, Diana, and Monica – seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In a word, Fran could be described as “Dedicated” – dedicated to her faith, and family. She was heavily involved with her Church Community for many years. She cared for her husband in his final years, and also for her parents, in theirs. She took on a matriarchal role, and became fiercely dedicated to her sons, and eventually their families. The relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, were particularly precious to her. Food was a common theme, and all family events were anchored by meals. She loved to travel when she could. But most of all, she loved Holidays, when the entire family would visit together.
