Mrs. Delois Ida Cruz, the daughter of the late Albert and Theresa Fitzgerald, was born on June 25, 1951 in Memphis Tennessee. She departed this life on August 25, 2021.
She committed her life to the lord at an early age. She was among the first African Americans to attend college at Memphis University where she studied psychology. She met her first husband Calvin Sanders in her early 20’s who was a bus driver at Chattanooga Area Transportation Authority. From this union two beautiful and lovely daughters we’re born.
More than 45 years ago she moved to San Jose, California where she became employed by Pacific Bell/ATT as an operator, where she quickly advanced to a customer service representative. Because of her intelligence, hard work and dedication she was later promoted as manager. It was in this professional position where she met and sat with the early founders of Google as it was still a new company at the time. As manager Delois would visit their San Jose campus where she’d advise, handle and help them structure and get set up with all of their data and communications needs.
She met her husband John Cruz in 1984. In this union they had two wonderful and handsome sons. Delois enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a beautiful heart and always had a smile on her face. She would always put her family first. She was a wonderful mother, wife, role model and a smart, savvy business woman. She could talk, walk, and chew gum at the same time.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, John Cruz; two daughters and son in laws: Caperucita and Adolf Ndikum, and Latisha and Lucas Tih. Two sons and daughter in law Jonathan Cruz and Alicia Haro and Joshua Cruz. Six grandchildren Paul, Alphonsius, Natalie, Vanessa, Luke and Mathew. One great grandchild Serenity Delois Tih. A loving sister Sherrie Jackson. A loving first cousin Edna Jackson, cousins Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hearn, and Julia Hearn from Los Angeles and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We are very thankful and appreciate all of the acts of love and kindness. May you continue to pray for us that our strength is renewed daily. We also pray that Jesus will richly bless you and keep you in his loving care.
