On Tuesday, January 5 2021 Janice Louise (Jackson) Maddux passed away at the age of 78. She was born in Pomona, CA on September 27, 1942 to Juanita and Winfred Jackson. Jan graduated from Fresno State with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture Business where she also met her husband, Harry, and were married on June 15, 1968. As a journalist she worked in San Francisco writing articles and serving as an editor for several Agriculture and Livestock publications including Western Livestock Journal. A desire to raise her two children, Jan assisted her husband teaching Agriculture Education at Washington Union High School and then started teaching Agriculture Education herself for Merced County ROP. She retired as the Agriculture Department chair at Chowchilla Union High School, her alma mater. In addition, she was integral in the family sheep ranch impacting the sheep industry for 52 years.
She is survived by her husband Harry Maddux, her two children Nikki and Todd Maddux, brother: Kent Jackson and sister: Sara Pursche.
A celebration of life will be held in Chowchilla in June.
