The heavens gained an angel as Jean McKissick passed away at home in Rohnert Park, CA on Wednesday May 25th, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was a young 90 years old.
Jean was born on November 1, 1931, in Arkansas, and moved to the Central Valley in the early 1960’s. During this time, she met and married Robert McKissick in Chowchilla, CA and was married for over 30 years, living in Chowchilla, Plainsburg, Merced, and Turlock until Bob’s passing in 2002. Jean continued to live in Turlock until 2012, when she moved to Rohnert Park.
Jean’s favorite job was where she worked as a receptionist at the Area on Aging for Merced County until she retired. She enjoyed retirement by crocheting, watching her favorite soap operas, and reading romance novels. She was always there to chat with friends and family (a little gossip she would say), go to a SF Giants or Modesto Nuts[ML1] game, and in recent years, go on cruises with family.
She leaves loving memories with her daughters Margaret Lyon and Paulette (Donald) Curtis, Grandchildren David (Shari[ML2] ) Curtis, Jimi (Deborah) Lyon, Megan Lyon, and Zachary (Jessica) Lyon, five great grandchildren, and the countless friends and family that she has touched throughout her life.
There will be private service at Plainsburg Cemetery.
Since Jean was a cancer survivor, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a loving donation to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Kormen.
