Jesus “Jesse” Lazaro was born on November 12, 1946 in Tocumbo, Michoacán, Mexico to Agustin Lazaro Olivares and Hermelinda Castillo Avila and passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 74.
Jesus moved from his birthplace Tocumbo, Michoacán, Mexico in 1965 to Merced, California where he has resided for 55 years. Jesus was known to be a very hard working and a good provider to his family. He worked as a laborer, local canneries and was a machine operator for Crown Cork & Seal upon his retirement in 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Maria De La Luz Lazaro, his five children: Martha Diez, Agustine Lazaro, Monica Martinez, Maria De Jesus Lazaro & Rosanna Lazaro. Jesus is the beloved “Papa Chuy” to his eight grandchildren: Vicente Diez, Anthony & Ayden Lazaro, Isabella, Jaqueline & Marcos Martinez Jr., Madison T. Lazaro & Tomas Lazaro. He is also further survived by his three brothers.
Jesus is preceded in death by his father Agustine Lazaro Olivares, mother Hermelinda Castillo Avila. His five sisters and one brother.
Jesus loved spending time with his family celebrating birthdays, holidays, having BBQ’s and making his Michoacán style carnitas and listening to Mexican music. Jesus was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and horses. His passion was in agriculture and he could always be found out in his bountiful garden to which he loved sharing its proceeds with everyone. Jesus had an eye at an early age for classic cars, trucks & motorcycles and shared that hobby with his son Agustine. Jesus loved to watch Futbol games no matter what teams were playing and boxing matches. Jesus was known to be a great storyteller and was inviting to all with this welcoming, humble, kind spirit. He always had stories of his life experiences to tell, conversation to share and loved helping others. Jesus will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
