It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine R. Blanco on December 2, 2020 in Merced, Ca.
Josephine passed away peacefully at the age of 103. Josephine was born in El Paso, Texas to Amador Reyes and Josefa Almanza. She was the second oldest of 16. After migrating to California her family settled in Le Grand, Ca, where she met the love of her life, John Blanco, the patriarch of the family. They married in 1939 and had 3 daughters. Josephine worked in food processing for many years. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, she was also an excellent cook, and everyone raved about her delicious meals.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Blanco, her granddaughter Linda Guerrero, and 12 siblings.
Josephine is survived by her daughters, Hortensia Guerrero (Ray), Anita Blanco-Leyva (Jesus), Mary Lou Blanco (Jesus Aguilar), also 13 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and 3 sisters, Mary, Pauline, and Frances Rodriguez.
A viewing and Rosary will be private. Outdoor funeral mass will be held on December 17, 2020 at 10:00am, at Sacred Heart Church, Merced, Ca., with Covid 19 restrictions observed: Face masks required. Provide your own chair. A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. No reception due to Covid 19.
