Louie A. Gonzales
Born October 31, 1929 in Merced, California. Louie passed away on June 27, 2020 in Clovis, California.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adolpho Gonzales and mother Lena Divorce, sisters, Virginia Dupont, Julia Gonzales, brother Robert Amador, first wife Gloria Gonzales and second wife Alice Gonzales.
Louie is survived by his daughter Louise Ethington and husband Bob, his son Daniel Gonzales and wife Sharon, surviving sister, Elena Gonzales, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louie was born and raised in Merced, California. He attended Merced High School. He was very proud of his hometown. One of his proudest moments was representing Merced in the Golden Gloves Competition in 1949.
Louie married Gloria Sanchez in August 1949; mother of Louise and Daniel. Gloria passed away Oct 18, 1972. He later married his second wife Alice Velasquez on October 28, 1978. Alice passed away on December 30, 2019.
Louie was a professional roofer by trade and retired in 1991 from Fresno Roofing Company. He was a proud and loyal member of Roofers & Waterproofers Local Union #27 for 72 years. During his retirement years he enjoyed going to craft shows around the central valley. Louie would sell hot dogs, often bringing his grandchildren along to help. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. Louie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.
