Marsha Mill’s Journey

Marsha Mills was born in Kansas City, Missouri to John Henry Charles and Lucy Williams Charles on August 2nd, 1946. Her mother passed when she was six years old, and her father, continued to raise Marsha and her five siblings. Marsha loved to learn and was an honor student at Central High School in Kansas City, where she graduated and received her diploma. She then attended Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, and received a certificate in ‘office technology’. Soon after college, she had her first-born Benny Jonathan Wrose Jr. Marsha worked at Hallmark cards for several years in Kansas City, until she moved to San Francisco, California. In 1972 , Marsha met and married the love of her life, Bryant H. Mills, in San Francisco whom she was married to for 51 years. Shortly after, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior. While living in San Francisco, she worked as a manager at Western Union for years until her and her husband moved to Brooklyn, New York. While residing in New York for about 4 years, she gave birth to a second son, Ahkin Mills. She worked on Wall Street as an administrative secretary. Sister Mills and her husband created a newsletter called “The Rising Sun” informing African Americans about their rights while also showing equal rights to all cultures” Two years later, Marsha and Bryant moved to Oakland, California and had three more children: Sarah, Bryant Paul, and Lejuana. They attended Teague Temple Church of God and Christ where they did outreach on the streets of Oakland bringing souls to Christ. After living in Oakland for 10 years, they moved to the city of Merced CA. where they gave birth to their youngest baby girl, Shanda. While living in Merced, they started a ministry where many souls were brought to Christ. Later they attended New Life Assembly, under the leadership of Pastor Meadows for 15+years. Years later, they attended Holy Grounds Ministry, under the leadership of Pastor John and Dr. Ann Hill. Sister Mills was a light wherever she went, and she always had a loving, kind, and welcoming spirit. She was always helping others and spreading God’s word. She leaves to mourn in her passing 6 children: Benny J. Harris (Tashina) of Merced, CA, Ahkin R. Mills of Stockton, CA, Sarah V. Mills of Merced, CA, Bryant P. Mills of San Francisco, CA, Lejuana N. Jynes (Barry) of Los Banos, CA, Shanda M. Her (Kenton) of Morro Bay, CA, and daughter in-love Eva-Nell of Merced, CA. Sister Mills is proceeded in death by her parents: John Henry Charles and Lucy Williams Charles and Stepmother Telitha Charles; Siblings: Verdi Charles, Cynthia Powell, John Charles, Mack Charles, and brother Michael. She leaves to carry her legacy 11 grandchildren Alexus Hewitt, DeJanelle E. Bovell, Titus Owens, Angel Hewitt, Zalitha E. Wrose, Aleena Hewitt, Patrice Volsan, Genevieve Perez, Michael Volsan, Curry Jynes, Caleb Jynes, 1 great-grandchild, Jayde and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that loved her dearly.
