Mary was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 11, 1954. She was in a military family. She lived in Casablanca, Africa from 1955 to 1958. Then went to Amarillo, Texas. When the base closed, the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. There she grew up and attended the University of New Mexico. Upon graduating, she joined the United States Air Force where she rose to the rank of Captain. She was stationed in Ramstein, Germany, Limestone, Maine, and then Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. After her military career, she went to work for the Merced County Recorder’s Office and the Human Services Agency where she retired from in 2018. While working for the county, Mary met the love of her life, Jim Blauert. They were married on October 22, 1992 and spent the next 30 wonderful years together.
She enjoyed spending time with her husband, friends, and grandchildren. Her favorite flower was the yellow rose, which was the first flower ever given to her by her loving husband.
She is survived by her husband James Blauert, daughter Amanda Thompson, grandchildren Tyler Eaton and Vaulet Thompson, and a brother Clarence Stebaein in Spring Branch, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Stebue and Virginia Stebue.
In lieu of flower, it has been requested that donations be made to “Our Lady of Mercy School” in remembrance of Mary.
