Mona Evangeline Liu Sugg, was born to Byau Liu and a Taiwanese woman from Hwa Loan. They moved to Jang Hwa, Taiwan where her father ran an ice cream shop and sired a total of 3 sons (one died at the age of 4) Geo chen,and Gwo Ching,. and 3 more daughters, Eu Feng, Eu Mei, and Eu lio. Mona was the second child born in the family. In Highschool she wandered into a Seventh Day Adventist Church for a youth meeting. On coming home her parents asked where she'd been. A few nights later the father went. When he came home he announced that the whole family was going to go. They were baptized into the Jang Hwa SDA church. Mona went to the SDA college in Eu Cheer and upon graduation with a BA in Religion, took a job as layout artist and translator for the Signs of the Times in the publishing house in Taipei. She and Clayton Sugg Jr. met as youth leaders in 1976 and were married on August 14 in the court and August 21 in Sung Shan Church. She then came to the US with her husband and worked as Snack Shop manager at Andrews University while Clayton completed his MDIV. During the next 17 years Mona and Clayton pastored 10 churches in 3 Cultures and 3 languages (English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese). During her marriage she have birth to two daughters, Tiffany (Su Shen De, and Stephanie (Su De Whei) . They came to Merced in June of 1994 to pastor the Olive East SDA church. Mona worked as a MA and Ortho tech at Kaiser Permanente for 17 years. In 2000 she was diagnosed with parkinson's and rheumatoid arthritis. In August 2011 her health forced her into retirement. She remained home where her husband cared for her until she passed away on February 14th at 3pm. She leaves behind her husband and two daughters who wait for the resurrection to see her again .
She will be interred at San Joaquin Military Veterans Cemetery.
