February 26, 1928 ~ December 24, 2020 (age 92)

Rosalie (Rosie) H. Edrington (formerly Atkinson), born in San Francisco, California, on February 26, 1928, passed away on December 24, 2020, at the age of 92 in Merced, California. Rosalie's work life was one committed to service to others. Aside from working for the Department of Forestry, Merced Police Department, Merced Health and Human Services she was also a retiree of the California Franchise Tax Board and office assistant for Dr. H. Lakireddy of Merced.
Rosalie loved life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and sharing her baked goods with friends and family. A trip to the casino to play the slot machines was another favorite pastime she thoroughly enjoyed with her friends. Rosalie's greatest joy aside from spending time with family and friends, was when she was singing. She sang, danced and performed with the Old Timers at Merced College, frequently entertained at various senior living homes in Merced and Atwater, and was a karaoke regular at the American Legion in Merced. She also had solo performances and performed in several skits in 1998 with New Wrinkles of Fresno.
Rosalie loved interacting with people and was always offering help and support to those she came in contact with. She never met a stranger and had numerous friendships that regardless of distance, she maintained for over 60 years. She hosted several foreign exchange students and assisted in their navigating our customs and country. She was also a volunteer working in the gift shop at Mercy Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, James Edrington of Atwater, her son Scott Tait and his wife Marlyse of Clovis, her daughter Debbie Nelson of Merced, granddaughters Lisa Strickland, Melanie Sportsman, and Amanda Avellan of Fresno, and six great grandchildren.
Rosalie requested no services be held for her and we are honoring her request. However, should you want to share a memory, you may do so at The family would love to hear from you. Should you want to donate in her memory, we would offer that Rosalie was a lifelong contributor to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital
