Robert “Bob” Speck
Bob Speck passed away on September 8, 2020 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on November 28, 1949 in Merced, California to Robert and Betty Speck. He was a lifelong resident of Merced. He married the love of his life, Sherry Meggs, on January 20, 1968. They shared a devoted marriage until 1995 when Sherry was called to Heaven. Bob is now home with his beloved wife.
Bob enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. He worked for TBA Auto Parts in Merced for many years. He will always be remembered there as the big man who worked in the back! He raced cars at Merced Speedway from 2008 to 2010, driving #112 in hobby stock. Bob mostly enjoyed spending his days with his family. He loved to cook and he shared many happy memories with his grandchildren, teaching them to cook. Bob will leave behind a legacy of a big family who thought the world of him.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Sherry (Meggs) Speck, and his daughter, Bobbie Jean Speck. He is survived by his daughter, Tabitha Speck, four grandchildren, Brandon Speck, Joseph Goulart, Michael Pacheco and Bethany Fausone, and his sister, Sharon Cotter. Bob is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and many cherished friends who became family, including Dorie Bryant, whom he loved like a daughter, and her son.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Merced Cemetery District. with limited attendance, There will be a potluck reception following the services at the residence of Bob and Betty’s Home in Merced.
