Vernice Ellen Engen was born at home on February 8, 1934 in Merced California to parents Vernon and Hazel Gardner. She was married to Henry Engen on March 3, 1962 in Merced. On October 23, 1963 she gave birth to twins Merry and Kathleen. She was a stay at home mother who loved to cook, sew, crochet, work crossword puzzles, read mysteries, embroider, camp, and draw. She had two older sisters and two older brothers. She was close to her parents and saw them often until they passed. She is survived by her husband Henry Engen, her brother David Gardner, her twin daughters Merry Flores and Kathleen Yasin, her son-in-law Bill Yasin, her grandchildren Chelsea Gonzales and Alex Yasin, her grandson-in-law Jeff Gonzales, her great-granddaughter Haylee Rocha, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She passed away peacefully on January 27, 2021 at home, surrounded by family. She is already, and will continue to be, greatly missed.
